As a player and coach, Herb Brooks saw Europeans using dryland training to develop skills and athleticism. He was struck by their integrity, hard work and the results of their training.
“The Czechs have so many players and so few arenas, they even teach skating off-ice." Brooks said. "But the best plan includes on-ice and off-ice workouts to create synergy in the training."
The legacy and vision of Herb Brooks continues to thrive under the careful direction of the Herb Brooks Foundation. The Herb Brooks Foundation is dedicated to providing more opportunities for kids to play the game of hockey. True to his words, the Foundation’s goal is "making hockey fun for kids and letting them learn to love the game the way we did."
In keeping with this ideal, the Foundation supports programs that emphasize the development of youth hockey players and coaches throughout the country. The Foundation also assists in providing more outdoor hockey facilities and programs, which directly impact the development of youth hockey players.
